Blackpool Beach & the Promenade

OutdoorsAll along the coast

Seven miles of sand and the tram-lined promenade that runs beside it.

The beach is the reason the town exists: seven miles of firm, flat sand from Starr Gate to Bispham, backed by a promenade rebuilt with headlands, sea-facing steps and public art.

Donkey rides run on the central stretch in summer. The quieter sand is north of North Pier and south of the Pleasure Beach. Check tide times before planning a long walk — the sea comes in fast and far.
