Getting here and getting around

Trains, motorways, parking and the tram line that makes a car unnecessary once you arrive.

By train

Blackpool North is the main station, ten minutes' walk from the Tower, with direct services from Manchester, Preston, Liverpool, York and London via Preston. Blackpool South serves the Pleasure Beach end.

By car

Leave the M6 at junction 32 for the M55, which runs straight into town. Journey times double on summer Saturdays and Illuminations weekends.

Parking

Seafront spaces are metered and scarce. Multi-storeys at Talbot Road and Central car park are the reliable options. Many hotels have limited on-site parking — check when you book rather than on the day.

The tram

The seafront line runs the full eleven miles from Starr Gate to Fleetwood, every few minutes in season. Buy a day ticket; it is cheaper than three singles and it is the fastest way between the Pleasure Beach and North Shore.

Walking distances from the Tower

  • North Pier — 5 minutes
  • Winter Gardens — 5 minutes
  • Central Pier — 10 minutes
  • Blackpool North station — 10 minutes
  • Pleasure Beach — 45 minutes, or 12 by tram

By air

Manchester Airport is about 70 minutes by road, with a train connection via Preston.
