Blackpool has one of the oldest and most open LGBTQ+ scenes outside London, and it is unusually easy to navigate: most of it sits in a few walkable streets rather than scattered across a city.
Where the scene is
The heart of it is around Talbot Road and Queen Street, a short walk from Blackpool North station and the Tower. Bars here run from quiet early-evening pubs to late cabaret and drag venues, and most of them are within a couple of minutes of each other, so bar-hopping needs no taxis.
A good first evening
- Early drink and food near Talbot Road while it is still light.
- A cabaret or drag show — Blackpool is a working showbiz town and the standard is high.
- Late bars around Queen Street; things get going later than people expect.
Daytime
- Showtown covers the resort's entertainment history, including its long drag and variety tradition.
- The Tower Ballroom for afternoon dancing, which is exactly as glorious as it sounds.
- The beach and Prom between North and Central Pier for a slow recovery walk.
Big weekends
Blackpool hosts large LGBTQ+ weekends through the year, including a Pride weekend in summer. Those dates fill hotel rooms across the whole resort months ahead — search your dates early on this site and book direct rather than waiting.
Staying
Our hotels sit in central Blackpool, a short walk from the Talbot Road and Queen Street bars, so you can walk home rather than plan a taxi. All are small, independent and used to guests coming and going late.
