Blackpool on your own

A resort that is easy to do solo, and a day plan that never feels awkward.

Blackpool is an unusually easy place to be on your own. Everything is public, most of it is outdoors, and nobody looks twice at one person on a pier with chips.

A solo day

  • Morning — the beach before the town wakes up, then breakfast.
  • Late morning — one indoor thing done properly: Showtown, the Grundy, the Tower Eye.
  • Afternoon — the tram end to end. Eleven miles of coast for the price of a ticket, and the best value in town.
  • Evening — a show. Theatre, cabaret and variety are all easy to book for one, and single seats are the ones that stay available.

Where solo works best

Piers, the Prom, Stanley Park, the trams, the arcades, matinees. Anything you would feel odd doing alone in a city is normal here.

Safety and comfort

The seafront is busy and lit until late in season. Central Blackpool is walkable, and the tram runs along the coast so you are never far from a way back.

Staying

Small independent hotels beat big blocks when you are on your own — you get spoken to. Our hotels are central, so late shows and early beach walks both work without transport.
